JULY 30 Pressure mounts on marketing professionals

Pressure mounts on marketing professionals.

Marketers are feeling the pressure of generating sales leads, with one in ten having left a job as a result, new research has shown.

A survey of 150 marketers commissioned Premiere Global Services Inc (PGi) and conducted by Pureprofile, revealed 75% of respondents felt under pressure to produce enough quality sales leads with one in ten moving jobs because the pressure got too high. A further 7% are planning to move jobs at present due to mounting pressures at work.

However the research also pointed out that 88% are satisfied the strategies they employ generate enough sales leads.

“There is a real divide here, and exploring new and more effective lead gen tactics could help alleviate the pressures being felt in the industry,” said Joanne Rigby, marketing director APAC at PGi.

Advertising and events were flagged as the two most successful lead generation tactics, at 67% and 48% respectively. Over half (51%) said they are using online events and tools to increase the speed of delivering messages, reach larger audiences and generate sales leads.

“It’s not a surprise to see advertising and events as the most popular lead gen tactics for Aussie marketers,” said Rigby.

“In fact, the case may be that they are happy to continue to go with the status quo, as it can be seen as the safe option. When looking to the future, our research shows that almost three quarters (72%) of Aussie marketing professionals believe that they will use online events and tools more and more in future. Trusting their instincts and utilising effective marketing tactics could see them lower their costs, up their sales lead generation ratios and, most importantly, feel more secure in their jobs.”
